It's a T5240! I'll be writing a review of the server, with a focus on virtualization and practical uses. I'm also thinking of doing some sort of benchmarking to show the difference between my Sun Blade 2000 and the T5240. Keep your eyes out for more posts as I get started on this server!

Hi Octave
How you doing? We met in Palo Alto few weeks back, with Paul A. As you know, I am happily stuck with the jumpstart process. Suddenly the third party package installation is taking an aweful lot of time. Is thre a way i can debug it.
It is a SUNWCxall installation with Solaris U3 and 127127-11 kernel patch
Any help is much appreciated.

I'm curios what you find in respect to IO performance. We are thinking to buy one of those and connect a lot of FC drives to it for backup purposes. Do you have any idea what could be the total throughput of such a system ? I mean can it read with 300 MB/s and write with 300MB/s in the same time ? An ultrium 3 tape drive is capable of writing at around 80MB/s in real life scenarios I've seen and if we have 4 of those writing in the same time.....
What do you think ? Is there any place where I could get some info on this ?
Regards,
Emil
